The recently refurbished Coldstream Marriage Room, located on the first floor of the Town Hall in the centre of Coldstream, is available for both civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.

Weddings You may just want a simple wedding conducted by the Registrar with only yourselves and two witnesses present. You may, on the other hand, choose the option of having a more elaborate ceremony of commitment and celebration in the presence of your family and friends. In either case, the Marriage Room is a wonderful setting for both weddings that are small and intimate or for those with up to 100 guests. We strive to make it as personal and special as you would want it to be, and an event that you will always remember.
If you choose to marry in Coldstream, you will be part of a long tradition of couples coming here to mark their lifelong commitment to one another. It was once the wedding place for hundreds of couples, especially those wanting to elope, rivalling Gretna Green in the 19th century.
The Marriage Room is light and airy, with a magnificent hammer-beam roof, and provides a dignified atmosphere for your ceremony.
Henderson Park, the stunning public gardens opposite the Marriage Room, provides another perfect back-drop for those all-important wedding photographs. Named after a medical family with long associations with Coldstream, it is said that these beautiful, scented flower gardens were laid out for the benefit of soldiers who lost their sight in the Great War. Beyond the stone monument to the Coldstream Guards, and a gazebo that was a meeting-place for lovers, are breathtaking, panoramic views of the River Tweed and the Cheviot Hills.

We work in partnership with a large number of local businesses that can provide you with assistance with your other wedding requirements, from caterers to carriages and from flowers to favours.
Civil Partnerships
You may just want a simple signing of the Civil Partnership Schedule (prepared in advance), by you and your two Witnesses in the presence of the Registrar, who will then register your Civil Partnership. This can be done during normal hours of business or after office hours, with only yourselves and your two Witnesses present.
You may, on the other hand, opt for a more elaborate ceremony of commitment to each other, with your family and friends present to celebrate the occasion with you. In either case, you cannot make a better choice than Coldstream, where sympathetic attention to your wishes and friendly discretion are guaranteed.
The Civil Partnership Ceremony can take place at the Registration Office or in the Marriage Room. There is no requirement for couples entering into a Civil Partnership to make declarations or vows to one another but this can be arranged, in consultation with the Registrar. We will do our best to ensure that your ceremony is as dignified, meaningful and memorable as you would wish it to be.
